Russia's top Islamic body has withdrawn a fatwa allowing Muslim men in the country to have multiple wives. This after Russian prosecutor general's office deemed the December 17 document by Council Of Scholars Of Spiritual Administration Of Muslims Of Russia (DUM) as illegal. The fatwa allowed Muslim men to have “religious marriages” with up to four women if he provides each wife with “equal material support, separate living space. The now withdrawn fatwa also urged the Muslim man to devote “an equal amount of time” to all the wives. Watch.
